Something struck me when I was reading Leviticus 17 where eating of blood is disallowed. It says, no one is allowed to eat the blood of any animal, for the life is in the blood. This is one of the regulation in the old covenant, which is of the law (that's what I "understood" from the bible itself). The blood of the sacrificed symbolises the blood of our Lord Jesus. By taking the blood of the sacrificed animal, it allows the person who took the blood to receive blessings without fulfilling every law. During that moment, nobody is declared righteous. This is pretty unjustifiable to God's Holiness and Righteousness, for God to give blessings to the person during that time. According to the bible, it says that the people of the old covenant must fulfil every commandments in order to receive the blessings of God.
So, if anyone were to drink the blood (which symbolises the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, whom during that moment was not yet sacrificed as the Lamb of God) - and in togetherness trying to fulfil all the 10 commandments but failed - will be cut off. And during then, nobody is totally cleansed by the sacrifices. The blood will only cover their iniquities and by which, it doesn't cleanse the person of his iniquities.
However, right now for us according to Romans 3:24-26. Now, that we are living in the New Covenant, when we partake of our Lord's blood, it symbolises life to every part of our lives. Jesus had took all the curses upon Himself on the cross @ Calvary. And when we drink of His Blood through the covenant meal, we are drinking His Life in which is the abundant life that He had given to us all! That gives me a greater insight to what I am taking during the covenant meal and a fuller view of Christ's life inside me as I partake of His Blood. What is His Life? His Life of abundant health, abundant wealth, abundant favor, His Righteousness. Literally, everything that is of Jesus, it is also mine and I'm taking them all coz He had given them all to me.
Praise Jesus!! I was so excited after reading the verse that mentioned about life is in the blood. And the Holy Spirit just opened my eyes to see the Life that Jesus had given to me through His Blood.
